Brief: Design an editorial type specimen publication that explores the historical and cultural context behind contemporary typefaces.
Outcome: Latin-American All Stars: Salsa & Trujillo is a type specimen publication that highlights two typefaces developed by the Bastarda Foundry—Salsa BT and Trujillo—through the lens of historical revival and cultural influence. The book combines extensive research with editorial design to explore how each typeface is rooted in Latin American design history, referencing influential figures and visual traditions. This project is quite personal to me as I felt that I have not learned much about my own culture's design history while in school and so I set out to learn more through this project.
