Hello!

My name is Leandra Prieto, a Cuban-American illustrator and graphic designer based in Milwaukee, working across illustration, surface design, graphic design, and visual storytelling. I’m drawn to projects that let me research, experiment, and play, whether that means developing a visual identity, building a pattern from an unexpected texture, or finding a fresh way to bring an idea to life.
I’m especially interested in design’s ability to make people feel connected, curious, or at home, and I love creating work that invites that kind of connection. Storytelling is at the heart of my practice, and I enjoy exploring how illustration, typography, photography, and video can come together to give an idea or brand its own visual language. I see each of these as tools for building a world around a story, whether that story lives on a package, across a brand identity, in a pattern, or through an image or video.
My work is often inspired by the things I naturally gravitate toward: animals, food, colour, and pattern. As a Cuban-American, I’m also especially interested in projects that explore heritage, culture, and representation. I value opportunities to bring different stories and perspectives into my work. More broadly, I’m drawn to projects that feel thoughtful, expressive, and full of personality.
When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me testing a new recipe in the kitchen or working on one of the many creative hobbies in my very comfy pink chair.
